Photo Cull

A tiny tool for choosing the few photographs worth keeping out of the thousands you take.

What it is

An idea for a desktop tool that shows one photograph at a time and asks a single question: keep or let go. No albums, no stars, no tags — just a decision, made quickly and without ceremony.

Why I built it

I take too many photographs and keep almost none of the right ones. Every editing app I have tried rewards fiddling. I want something that rewards deciding.

The problem

Culling is the least glamorous and most important part of photography, and it is exactly the part that existing tools make slow and fussy.

How it might work

Read a folder, show images full-screen in a random order, respond to two keys, move the keeps into a folder. That is the entire specification.

Current status

Idea. Written down here so it stops being a vague feeling and starts being a small, finishable project.
